Before dancer Gab Valenciano and TV host Coleen Garcia became a couple, the two had to contend with the issue of her ex-boyfriend, actor Enrique Gil, being their common friend.
But for the "Princess and I" heartthrob, Valenciano's gesture of having informed him of his intentions to woo the "It's Showtime" host was welcome, but unnecessary.
"Sabi nung kaibigan namin namomroblema si Gab. Sabi ko walang problema, but he (Valenciano) came up pa rin to me, sabi, 'Bro, I'm really starting to like Coleen, I like her, sana lang, I just want you to know,'" Gil revealed on Wednesday.
"Sabi ko, 'You don't have to ask me, but salamat that you told me. Boto ako, basta take care lang,'" he added.
The young actor also noted that with Garcia now in show business -- unlike during their relationship -- this has afforded her time to spend with Valenciano.
"To start with kasi, she didn't like any relationship in showbiz. Sabi niya, walang time, walang everything, and I knew that going into the relationship, pero wala eh, naging sobrang busy ako. Siya she wasn't so busy that time," he said.
"So ngayon, siguro magkasama sila palagi ni Gab sa work at marami silang time. Siguro kaya sa schedule nila, kaya sila magkasama, and I'm sure they're working out great," he added.
Even now that Valenciano and Garcia are "exclusively dating," Gil said he and the dancer-host continue to be in good terms, as they are in the same group of friends.
No time for romance
With his ex-girlfriend having moved on to a new relationship, is Gil ready to pursue romance anew?
"Hindi pa, kasi dapat siguro 100% na wala kang ginagawa masyado. Gusto 'yung ready ka to have time for dun sa kasama mo. Kasi unfair eh, may girlfriend ka nga, o kung may liligawan man, tapos wala ka namang time sa kanya, unfair," Gil said.
The young actor pointed to his packed schedule, as he gears up for the release of two films, in addition to topbilling ABS-CBN's "Princess and I."
"Kasi everyday may ginagawa. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, taping ng 'Princess and I.' Monday, Wednesday, Friday, shooting naman sa 'Amorosa' and promo. So ngayon 'Strangers' naman, pumasok for MMFF, so rush, dahil malapit na ang MMFF," he said.
Slated for a release on August 29, "Amorosa: The Revenge" is a horror film where Gil co-stars with Angel Aquino, Empress Schuck and Martin del Rosario.
"The Strangers," an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), is likewise a horror film, which will be released under Quantum Films.
