Zsa Zsa Padilla feels blessed to have friends and family members who help her cope with the loss of her patner, the late Dolphy Quizon. She continued that work is made a lot easier because friends and colleagues are all very supportive. However, she said that there are times when she needs to face her own emotions. “Siyempre sa bahay iba-iba (ang nararamdaman), tsaka five stages ang grief na ‘yan,” she explained. “Pabalik-balik. Hindi pala in order. Iba pala. Galit ka, minsan depressed, minsan tanggap mo na. Basta paiba-iba siya. Minsan nagba-bargain ka, I was bargaining for I don’t know... I really want him to come back and walk in the door parang ganon. Akala ko nalampasan ko na. Biglang-bigla mararamdaman mo pala ‘yon. Some of my friends who lost their loved ones would tell me it really gets harder.”
The Divine Diva also explained why she decided to have a tattoo on her left arm, which spells out the world “Lovey”, hers and Dolphy’s term of endearment for each other. “This was his handwriting. Sulat niya ito so kinopya ng artist,” she shared. “Isa ito dun sa mga cards na bigay niya sa akin so talagang sulat kamay niya, ganyan na ganyan. Gusto kong ilagay dito kasi left-handed ako. ‘Pag humahawak ako ng mikropono so you can’t miss it when I perform dahil in spirit I want him to be with me whenever I sing on stage. It’s my tribute to him so people will always remember him that he was a part of my life.
She added that whenever she performed onstage and Dolphy was part of the audience, when felt very inspired. “ So feeling ko pag hawak ko na ‘yung mikropono he will give me strength, he will always guide me as a performer and ayoko makalimutan siya ng tao kasi ako lang ang Lovey niya. Na-inspire ako sa mga apo niya, sila ‘yung nag-umpisa eh, tapos ‘yung ilang anak niya. "She added that their daughters Nicole and Zia also decided to have their own tribute tattooes to their dad, whose designs have personal meanings to them.
Even when Dolphy was still alive, one of the most talked-about issues is the actor being given a National Artist Award but until now, he yet to be given the recognition. Many people have aired their disappointment over the matter and added that the Comedy King is very much deserving of the National Artist award. When Zsa Zsa was asked again recently about this issue, she answered, “Ganun din (uli) ‘yung sasabihin ko, kung nararapat at ibibigay sa kanya, then we’ll be all happy for that.”
When further asked if she will feel bad if the award is given to Dolphy now that he is already dead, the singer-actress replied, “Siyempre wala naman siguro sa amin ang bitter, 'di ba? Hindi maganda ‘yun, eh. Nasa Bibliya naman ‘yan kailangan talaga... in this case wala namang dapat i-forgive but we are very willing to accept anything. Lahat naman ng nagbibigay sa kanya ng award (tinatanggap namin).” She even shared that just recently, an advertising organization gave tribute to Dolphy and she attended. “They also gave tribute to him sa mga commercials na ginawa niya. Nakakaiyak kasi pag nakikita ko siya sa screen full of life, ‘yun talaga ang nami-miss ko.”
Another good thing that came out of Dolphy’s passing is that Zsa Zsa was able to build a close relationship with Dolphy’s children and grandchildlren. “(Everybody) saw na mas maging close kami sa isat-isa. We love each other and we’re still constantly in touch with each other,” said ZsaZsa.
