It seems that Enrique Gil is one of the most in demand actors these days as he stars in one movie after another including The Reunion and Amorosa. He’s also about to start filming a Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) entry entitled The Strangers together with Enchong Dee and Julia Montes. Apart from that, he’s currently busy taping the hit series Princess and I.
Asked if he still gets time off work, Enrique revealed he barely sleeps at home at all. “Dun na ako natutulog sa van. Ako yung tipong, you work so hard, inaayos mo bahay mo, hindi mo naman nagagamit bahay mo. Yung free time ko for promo. Like pagkagaling ng taping ng Princess and I madaling araw, maaga pa lang nasa ANC, Tambayan 101.9 tapos mga press con, so wala ng free time. Everyday may taping. Habol kami ng MMFF eh.”
Far from complaining, Enrique happily makes the most out of the opportunities thrown his way, it’s a wonder how he functions and keeps his cool at the same time. “It’s worth the wait. Hindi ka aayaw sa trabaho. Yung iba nga wala. So mas gusto mo na yung meron kahit walang pahinga minsan. Kasi after MMFF makakapag-rest naman ako. I’d love to go with my family and friends in Maldives for vacation.”
The 20-year-old further shared with Push.com.ph his plans to put up a business and other personal investments. “Pinapaayos ko ngayon yung bahay namin. Tapos I want to buy a property, magpaupa ng house para may income ka. Yung makukuha ko sa rent, yun ang mapupunta sa ipon kasi yung kinikita ko sa work ngayon is more than enough for my family's day-to-day needs. Yung sa rent dun mapupunta yung gusto kong bilhin na house for myself and cars that I want.”
At his age, Enrique has already learned the importance of saving up instead of spending on luxurious stuff that he can do without at the moment. “You have to think ahead. Gusto ko noon bumili ng kotse. Pero naisip ko, sayang naman kung lahat ng pera nasunog sa kotse na nagde-depreciate. May kotse ka nga wala ka naman pera sa bank or wala kang bahay. Dapat stable ka. Napagusapan namin ng mom ko mag-quit siya sa job niya after a year. Siya raw magmanage sa finances ko.”
His sole focus on achieving such dreams is the very reason why he avoids getting involved with anyone at this point in his career. “Kung gusto mo ng love life, dapat may 100 percent kang time sa tao na gusto mo. That’s when you go get serious in a relationship. Hindi ka naman papasok sa isang relasyon na hindi ka ready. Unfair naman sa tao. Girlfriend mo nga siya, wala ka namang oras sa girlfriend mo. Anong klase yun? Hindi pwede yun. Ayoko ng ganon.”
Does he have a standard when it comes to the qualities he likes in a potential girlfriend? “I thought I had pero hindi e. Basta nakita ko na, ‘Uy solid itong babaeng ito,’ natutuwa ako sa kanya, yun na. Sometimes you think of wanting to have a girlfriend or you miss that feeling na kinikilig ka for a girl. Pero ngayon wala akong hinahanap.”
